Extension: Olark Integration

Extensions are X specific plugins available for download for all customers with a validated purchase of X. You can easily download and manage all of your Extensions directly from the WordPress admin area under Addons > Extensions. This article covers documentation for the Olark Integration Extension and goes into detail on certain features where needed.

Enabling the Extension

After installing and activating Olark Integration, you’ll find its settings page underneath the Addons menu.

From the main Olark Integration settings screen you can choose to disable or enable the plugin as needed:

Disabling the plugin will effectively turn off all output from the plugin (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript etc). This is useful as a quick way to toggle activity if you ever need without having to go through the Plugins menu and worry about activating/deactivating it completely. This way you can work with and manage all of your X specific functionality from one centralized place under the Addons section.

Selecting the enable checkbox will bring up the Settings meta box below. This is where you will adjust any options for the plugin and input your data as needed.

What Olark Integration Does

The Olark Integration extension integrates the Olark live chat platform with your WordPress powered website.

Setting Up Olark Integration

You’ll see there is only one simple setting for the plugin, your Olark Site ID. First of all if you don’t already have an Olark account visit their site and register an account. Olark have a range of plans you can pick from including a completely free plan and an assortment of paid options.

Once you are signed up with Olark you can get your site ID from this page. You should see something that looks like this:

You want that last option the Site ID. Copy that and then navigate to your WordPress admin in a new tab. Within your WordPress admin go to X Addons >> Olark Integration and paste your site ID in the Olark Site ID box like this:

Once you’ve added the ID click on Update to save the setting. Now navigate back to your other open tab the one where you got the Site ID from and click on I’m Done if everything was done correctly you should be taken to your Olark dashboard.

Now click on Launch Chat in the upper right of your Olark dashboard to launch the live chat, once logged in you should see a page like this

Now you’re all logged into the Olark chat panel, when you navigate to the front-end of your website, you’ll see the chat bubble like this:

Click that chat bubble to expand it and enter a message:

Congrats! You’ve successfully connected Olark live chat to your website and your customers can now communicate with you quickly and easily.
